Where to Buy Japanese Silk Pajamas in Tokyo: Foo Tokyo Store Guide

If you have been looking at Japanese silk pajamas online and want to see them in person, this page tells you where to go. Foo Tokyo has two shops of its own in central Tokyo — one in Nihonbashi, one in Ginza — both inside long-established department stores, both a few minutes from a subway station, and both tax-free for visitors from overseas.

Which one should you visit?

If your day includes Tokyo Station, Nihonbashi or Ginza on foot, either works. Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi is our own store and carries essentially everything, including baby gifts and gift wrapping, and it is about ten minutes’ walk from Tokyo Station. Matsuya Ginza holds the largest selection of any shop in Japan and sits on Chuo-dori in the middle of Ginza, close to GINZA SIX and the Kabukiza Theatre.

One thing worth knowing: a small number of items listed online may not be in stock in store. If you are making the trip for one particular piece, call ahead.

Getting there

  • From Haneda Airport — about 35–45 minutes to Ginza or Nihonbashi by train.
  • From Narita Airport — about 60–80 minutes, usually via Tokyo Station.
  • From Tokyo Station — Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi is roughly a 10-minute walk; Ginza is one stop on the Marunouchi Line.

Shopping tax-free

Both shops are tax-free for visitors from overseas. Bring your passport with you on the day. Some of our staff speak English, and we use translation tools in store, so there is no need to worry about the language.

Where else Foo Tokyo is sold in Japan

Beyond Tokyo, Foo Tokyo is carried at Osaka Takashimaya (5F), Kyoto Takashimaya and other stores across Japan, as well as in Seoul, Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Portland, Cologne and Beijing. The full list is on our store and stockist page.
