An Oasis in the City: The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon

The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon was born from a collaboration between Marriott International and Ian Schrager, the originator of the boutique hotel. Designed by the architect Kengo Kuma, the hotel brings together traditional Japanese beauty and contemporary design.

Panoramic views of Tokyo from the upper floors, together with green, garden-like spaces that suggest a jungle in the sky, have made it a destination for travellers from around the world.

To make the hours of rest in this setting a little more memorable, Foo Tokyo's pajamas were chosen as part of the hotel's hospitality.

The Silky Cotton Pajamas

The Silky Cotton Pajamas introduced here are among the most fundamental pieces in our collection, and also the ones in which our attention to material and detail is most concentrated.

As the name suggests, they are 100% cotton yet carry the lustre and smoothness of silk. The fabric uses rare Pima cotton grown in California, knitted finely from extremely thin 80-count yarn. A mercerising finish then adds a sense of luxury to cotton's natural warmth and ease of care.

In the design, the rounded collar typical of pajamas has been sharpened, and the piping usually taken for granted has been deliberately removed. The result reads almost like a shirt worn outdoors — a minimal look that sits well in the hotel's rooms.

How do you keep everything that makes a pajama comfortable enough to sleep in, while taking away the things that make it look like one? These pieces are our answer to that question, and we hope they add something to each guest's stay.
