    A Traditional Japanese Motif
“Running Water” — Woven with a Wish for Protection

The theme of this piece is water.
A force that nurtures life, yet can also become a powerful threat, water has long been regarded with reverence and awe.

No matter how advanced technology becomes, the bond between humans and water remains inseparable. After all, more than half of the human body is composed of water.

Within traditional Japanese auspicious patterns (Kisshō Mon-yō), there are several motifs that express water. Among them, we selected one of the most iconic: the Running Water motif (Ryūsui Mon-yō).

Flowing water is believed to remain pure and clear, carrying away hardship and misfortune. For this reason, the motif has long been used in kimono design as a symbol of protection and good fortune.

In an era marked by unforeseen pandemics and disasters beyond imagination, this piece expresses pure, cleansing water—symbolizing a wish to wash away deep sorrow and suffering.
It is a garment we hope you will wear during sleep, the moment when one is most unguarded.

    Crafted from 1,300-Year-Old “Tango Silk”

Tango, located in Kyoto Prefecture, is Japan’s foremost silk-weaving region.
Tango Silk is known for its supple softness, born from high-quality natural soft water, and for the countless innovations developed by generations of skilled weavers. Together, these elements have shaped a fabric with a texture found nowhere else in the world.

Silk, a natural fiber, is often described as a “living material.” Even when the same processes are repeated, the outcome can vary. Through the seemingly simple yet deeply complex steps of combining, twisting, and weaving different threads, Tango artisans work daily with this “living” material to achieve the intended texture and feel.

The result is a beautifully organic expression that even the most advanced machines cannot replicate.
This richness of variation and luxurious texture is what defines Tango Silk.

    Silk Jacquard Weaving
    Where Master Craftsmanship Converges

Jacquard weaving is a technique in which patterns are woven directly into the fabric, creating a raised, dimensional effect. Compared to printed designs, jacquard fabrics offer greater depth and refinement, and have long been used in traditional kimono textiles.

Working with silk in jacquard weaving is exceptionally challenging due to the fineness of the fibers. Producing a beautiful silk jacquard requires the skill of truly masterful weavers.

For this piece, we selected a silk jacquard fabric produced by create ebara, a textile brand with its own factory in Tango—one of Japan’s most esteemed silk-producing regions.
Through exceptional craftsmanship, a luxurious fabric was created in which the flowing water motif emerges gracefully across smooth silk.
